Friday 3 May 2013

I just want to mention the performance of 'Too Long in Exile' which is taking place in the dark gallery this Saturday, this show was originally inspired by the bringing of the show Albion to the top half floor of 'Period of Grace'. Sometimes a curator can be pushed creatively to put on a show he didnt expect to put on and this was the case with the show I have put on downstairs. It is called Hibernia, and is an exploration of the physical and emotional landscape of the Celt, of course there is no such thing as a true Celt or Brit, we are all mixtures. I have curated a landscape of welsh landscapes and an installation of the River Foyle by paddy doherty is in the back room.

There are theatrical performances organised by Dominick Cullen in the dark gallery at 5.30 and 6.30 on the 4th may, 5.30 and 6.30 on the 11th may, the 15th may at 6pm which will be followed by a discussion and the final performance on 19th may.  I will give a talk on my show and some of the artists will give a talk on their work.

We have 'ALBION' up stairs run by the charming Chelsea Davine and Ben Whittington till the 26th may on which day Hibernia will close also.

'Too Long in Exile' will have a preshow of music, irish poetryand dance for 20 minutes. Then the show for 40 minutes and afterwards some more music and poetry.
